Skimo Looks Ahead

The trails dried up quickly this year, which is a bummer for spring skiing, but not a bad thing for our athletes to transition into their next seasons. Our athletes – including both our youth and masters group – will be staying active and fit throughout the off season from Skimo with hours on their bikes, in their trail shoes and participating in other sports. In this age of year-round sports, Skimo is one of the few that forces a true off season, which challenges us to be multi-faceted and develop as better overall athletes.

Besides mountain biking and running, strength training is particularly important for Skimo athletes. Spring and summer are great times to develop a base in the gym. Our Masters athletes have the opportunity to partake in our multi-disciplinary Masters Strength program, which offers four blocks matching the annual seasons. The spring block of Masters Strength was the first of all the PCSS programs to start back up after the conclusion of the season! For our youth athletes, we offer Endurance Athletes Strength & Conditioning, which provides opportunities to train in the US Ski Team’s Center of Excellence during the spring, summer and fall.

We look forward to bringing the full teams back together next fall ahead of the 2027 season. This year was an incredible season with a lot of development and community built, and we’re feeling very optimistic about the future of Skimo at the club and as a burgeoning sport!
