A New Season Begins for PCSS Nordic
May 22, 2026
May marks the beginning of a new season for cross-country skiers, and it has been exciting to get our athletes and coaches back together. Spring programs officially started on May 11, and we are looking forward to the months ahead.
On May 16, PCSS Nordic had a team of 10 athletes and coaches participate in the Running with Ed fundraiser, a 28.6-mile relay race around Park City. It was great to see our team come together, with older athletes mentoring, encouraging, and cheering on younger athletes throughout the event.
The Comp Team has also returned to the Center of Excellence gym to begin building a strong foundation for the upcoming season. In addition to training, nutrition continues to be an important focus for both performance and overall well-being. On May 18, athletes participated in an interactive nutrition clinic put on by Julie Kavas and focused on learning how to better fuel their bodies for training, recovery, and daily life.
We are also relieved to put the 2026 season behind us after the many challenges and perseverance required to make it successful. There have been many ongoing discussions and planning efforts surrounding the future of snowmaking for cross-country skiing in Park City, and we encourage community members to listen in during the next City Council meeting.
We are excited to announce that will be joining us this summer as our Head Comp Team Coach. Jeremy has been an important part of our coaching staff for the past three years and has contributed greatly to our club’s success. He brings a wealth of experience to the role, including competing in three Olympics for the U.S. Biathlon Team, serving in the military, coaching for, and extensive experience as a ski technician.
We had many highly qualified applicants apply and interview for this position, and we feel Jeremy is an excellent fit for the role and the future of our program.
Jeremy will be taking over for current Head Coach. After five years in the position, Liz is stepping down from her head coaching role to attend nursing school. We are grateful for her leadership and dedication to the club over the years, and we are excited that she will continue with PCSS as an assistant coach. Jeremy and Liz are both committed to making this a smooth transition for our athletes and families.
Please join us in congratulating Jeremy when you see him out in the community.
A reminder that our summer programs begin on June 8. More information can be found at www.parkcityss.org. We are also excited for the first Moose on the Loose kids' trail running race on June 13, all proceeds benefit PCSS Youth Programs.
Thank you for your continued support of PCSS Nordic.
