Olympic Inspiration Runs Deep

Skimo fans and athletes across the nation are riding a high after the debut of our sport at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. It was the first time Skimo made it into the living rooms of millions of viewers.

The excitement of this debut, along with the added stoke from the U.S. team’s result (4th in the mixed relay!), has carried us through an equally “exciting” month. It’s been a whirlwind of never-ending weather surprises—from high pressure to deep powder to pouring rain.

Luckily, we’ve still had the terrain we need to keep training and racing through it all. With so many of our kids new to the sport this year, we’re optimistic they’re now up for anything and certainly are not afraid of challenging conditions.

Earlier in the month, we enjoyed a calm evening for our second Town Series race of the season. Twenty athletes donned a bib for this 40-minute race. The competition was both fierce and fun, with participants completing between one and six laps of the course in that time. We also participated in two more Utah Skimo events, the second of which Mother Nature blessed with powdery descents as last week’s storm rolled in.

With a few weeks left in the season, our racers will head to Solitude March 4–8 for the Wasatch Powderkeg and U.S. National Championships. Following that, we’re looking forward to late sunsets and spring skiing through the rest of March. We also have two more Town Series races ahead: March 13 and April 4.
