Town Series

The PCSS Town Series brings evening Alpine and SkiMo racing to Park City, welcoming athletes of all ages and abilities to race individually or as part of a team.

Event Information

Join us for the 2026 PCSS Town Series, a community-based evening race series for Alpine and SkiMo athletes of all ages, hosted at Utah Olympic Park. Races are designed to be fun, competitive, and accessible, with individual and team participation encouraged.


The Town Series Finale on April 4 takes place at Utah Olympic Park and includes Ski the Peak access on West Peak, a Pond Skim, final Alpine and SkiMo races, raffle prizes, and afternoon activities with the PCSS community.



Athletes may register for individual races or the whole series at a discounted rate. Alpine training sessions are offered on the Monday before each race.

Event Raffles & Season-End Prizes

  • Each week, raffle prizes will be awarded with names drawn from the overall results list. Any racer who starts a race is automatically entered, but winners must be present to claim weekly prizes.
  • In addition, every night you participate and race, you earn one entry into a gender-specific end-of-season raffle for a grand prize pair of skis.
Town Series

Alpine Requirements & Rules

  • All competitors age 5+ are welcome. Participants must be able to independently ride the lift and navigate an intermediate slope under their own power. Skiers, snowboarders, teleskiers, and sno-bladers may participate.
  • Competitors may take one run in each course for the night - Red Course (all red gates) and Blue Course (all blue gates).
  • Gates are spaced at regular intervals, 18-20 meters apart.
  • The objective of the run is to ski around the outside of each gate in the designated course, the entire way down. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
  • Results will be released each evening at the completion of racing and posted on www.live-timing.com.

  • Within each bracket, finishing places continue in the same numeric pattern (adding 10 each time) until the final racer’s place is reached.
Town Series

Team Requirements

  • Teams must have a min of 4 and a maxi of 6 members.
  • Team members age 5+ may be of any gender or snow sport discipline, including skiers, snowboarders, tele-skiers, and snow-bladers.
  • Substitutions of members across races are not allowed.

Team Scoring & Awards

  • The top 4 finishers in either run (course A or course B) within a team accumulate race points using a bracket system.  There are 10 brackets.  Each place falls within a bracket.
  • Each team member will accrue 2 Show Up Points for racing.
  • A Team Score will be the sum of the Race Points earned by the top 4 finishers plus 2 Show Up Points for each member on the team who raced.

  • Team scores from each Town Series event will be summed to determine the Overall Team Town Series winner.

Individual Awards

  • The top 5 fastest single run finishers per gender from either course (red or blue) will be recognized each race.
  • Team-affiliated athletes remain eligible for individual recognition.
  • Fastest single run time of the night (from either course) is crowned the winner for the night’s race.
Skimo Town Series

Skimo Requirements & Rules

  • Racers must be at the start line 5 minutes prior to the start time for a brief safety/course meeting
  • Helmets must be worn at all times
  • Poles must be set down on the snow during transitions
  • Climbing skins must be used for all ascents except for boot packs
  • Course will be marked as follows: green flagging = skinning, yellow = boot pack, red or gates = descent 
  • Racers will be able to start their final loop up until the given time limit, provided they have completed their transition from skiing to skinning.


Race Format

Required Gear

  • Alpine touring, skimo or splitboard setup
  • Climbing skins
  • Helmet
  • Poles
  • Backpack, preferably with ski carry (race course may include a boot pack)
  • Headlamp (race course may divert from lighted area)
  • Brakes or leashes are not required, but are encouraged.


Looped racing for a specific period of time:

  • Race Week 1: 30 min
  • Race Week 2: 40 min
  • Race Week 3: 50 min
  • Race Week 4: TBD


Skimo Scoring & Awards

  • Racers who complete the most loops within the least amount of time rank highest. 
  • The top 3 racers within the following categories will be recognized each race night (no awards)
  • Male Junior (2020-2007)
  • Male Adult
  • Female Junior (2020-2007)
  • Female Adult
  • The top 10 finishers in each gender/age category will accrue race points based on the bracket system above.  1st place = 20 points, 2nd place = 19 points, 3rd place = 18 points, etc.  Racers finishing 11th place or higher will not receive any race points.
  • Race points from each Town Series event will be summed to determine the overall winner within each gender/age category.
