FIS update

Eleven athletes from the FIS team traveled to Apex Resort at the end of January for the first NorAm event of the season. With the Deer Valley NorAm cancelled due to a lack of snow, the team gained extra preparation time training on the Hyeway mogul course at the UOP.

Weather conditions at Apex were challenging and caused delays throughout the event, but the team stayed focused, prepared, and ready to compete as soon as conditions cleared and competition was able to continue. That preparation showed, with strong performances across the board in both training and competition.

Highlights included first NorAm appearances for Nic Rubenstein and Brad Manns, and Jackson Crocket landing his first back double full in FIS competition.

On the women’s side, Lenna Persson competed in her first Canadian NorAm, Evelyn Harris pushed the limits with a corked 720 in single moguls, and Kareema Wakim put down a solid run to kick off her NorAm tour. Sami Worthington made a strong return to the NorAm circuit with a top-10 finish in dual moguls, while Taylor Lewis finished 11th in dual moguls. Dory Michaud qualified for finals in both moguls and dual moguls, Anabel Ayad started her tour with a finals appearance and a podium finish in dual moguls, and Xanthia Coote earned her first career NorAm win in Duals.

Congratulations to the entire team on a strong start to the season! Looking ahead, the team is now in the midst of the eastern NorAm tour with stops in Val Saint-Come and Stratton Mountain.

Regional update

The regional team has been busy with competitions in the intermountain region, with two comps in Sun Valley and one at the UOP in the last month. The athletes' hard work all season has been paying off with some good results and age class and overall podiums. For the UOP regional event, we had 7 women and 4 men make it into the top 12!
