The Alpine team has been busy across all age groups and venues, with racing and training happening worldwide and at home. From a small group of FIS men racing in Europe to South Series and Devo athletes competing at the UOP, the season is now fully underway after a long wait for winter to arrive.

The FIS athletes have been busy and all over the place, with small groups splitting up and competing anywhere from Italy, Quebec, Jackson Hole, and California, all while earning podium finishes, personal bests, strong returns from injury, and several big bib moves. Closer to home, the U16s and U14s opened their IMD qualifier seasons at Snowbird and Snow King with strong performances from both groups. They both then headed to Jackson Hole for the first speed races of the season, getting valuable time on longer skis and terrain. First-year U14s followed with a speed camp on the same hill, and both YOB groups will continue speed racing at Tamarack, Idaho.

In addition to the races at Snowbird and Jackson, two U16 athletes traveled to Vermont for a National Performance Series, competing head-to-head with the top U16s in the country and more than holding their own, with top-5 and top-10 results.

The South Series and Devo groups kicked off their race season at the UOP with excellent skiing, strong results, and great effort and attitude reported by coaches. After a challenging start and several canceled events, the Masters group will finally open their season this weekend at Park City Mountain.

After an incredibly difficult early season, things are coming together with both training and racing. We are hopeful that by the end of next week we will have access to all training venues, including the UOP (Hyeway and West Peak), Park City Mountain, and Deer Valley. Congrats to all our athletes on a strong start, let’s keep it rolling.

Lastly, a huge shout out goes to Tallulah Proulx, who qualfied for the Olympics in Slalom and GS for the Phillipines and will be the first female winter Olympian for the Phillipines!!
