Freeride
The PCSS Freeride Program is designed for athletes who love skiing and want to test themselves on diverse, challenging terrain. Whether aiming for top-level competition or simply pushing personal limits, the program builds confident, skilled, and well-rounded skiers.
What is Freeride Skiing?
Freeride skiing, also known as Big Mountain, is one of the sport’s most exciting and fast-growing disciplines, challenging athletes to ski natural terrain with creativity, confidence, and control. Competitors tackle steep faces, chutes, cliffs, and powder fields—choosing their own line and using the mountain as a canvas.
Unlike racing or park disciplines, Freeride highlights individuality, adaptability, and technical skill in dynamic, off-piste environments. Whether dropping cliffs, threading turns through tight terrain, or flowing down big lines with power and style, Freeride athletes push themselves to progress while skiing with purpose.
Freeride also thrives on its competition circuit, from regional qualifiers to the IFSA Junior Series and the Freeride World Tour. These events give athletes the chance to test their skills on iconic mountains, showcase creativity under pressure, and progress toward the highest levels of the sport.

Our Purpose
The PCSS Freeride Program is for athletes who love skiing and want to challenge themselves on diverse, technical terrain. Whether pursuing national competition or personal progression, athletes gain the skills and confidence to thrive in the mountains.
Training with experienced coaches, athletes focus on control, fluidity, line choice, air awareness, and mountain safety. From steep descents and cliff drops to trick development and variable snow conditions, we emphasize strong fundamentals, smart decision-making, and injury prevention.
With multiple team levels, the program supports every stage of the freeride journey—from developing skills to competing on the national stage.
