Program Details
The Skills Team is Freeride’s entry-level program for athletes ready to progress their skiing across all aspects of the mountain. This team introduces athletes to freeride skiing in a fun, supportive environment that includes trees, moguls, powder, terrain parks, and steep groomed runs.
Within the program, families can choose between the Local Skills and Advanced Skills teams, depending on each athlete’s ability and goals. The Freeride pathway is designed for Local Skills athletes to move up to Advanced Skills, and for Advanced Skills athletes to advance toward the Competition Team. Athletes will train solely with the team they register for, and groups are organized by ability first, then age, to ensure the best fit for each skier.

Find the Best Fit: Local vs. Advanced
The Local Skills Team
is a great fit for athletes building a strong skiing foundation while exploring freeride terrain. Led by IFSA-certified coaches, training emphasizes fundamentals such as edge control, body position, weight transfer, air awareness, and skiing top-to-bottom with style and energy. Local Skills is ideal for athletes progressing from a basic skill set and still developing confidence across the mountain.
The Advanced Skills Team is designed for athletes who can already ski the full mountain—including black and double black terrain—in all conditions. Training pushes athletes further with advanced fundamentals, jumping, hiking, and all-mountain performance. While not competition-focused, Advanced Skills athletes will participate in team competitions and have the option to enter select regional events if desired.
