What is Freestyle Skiing?
Freestyle skiing is the most all-encompassing ski discipline, blending speed, acrobatics, and technical skill into one thrilling sport. It’s long been a fan favorite, consistently ranking among the most-watched events in the Winter Olympic Games. Freestyle skiing includes two disciplines: Moguls and Aerials.
Moguls take place on a course with three sections of bumps (moguls) separated by two jumps. Competitions are held in two formats: single moguls, where an athlete is scored on a solo run, and dual moguls, where two athletes race head-to-head down the course.
Aerials feature athletes launching off 2–4 meter jumps, soaring up to 20 meters into the air. While airborne, they execute multiple flips and twists before landing on a steep, inclined hill—precision, style, and control all on display in a single jump.
