Water Ramp Drop-Ins
Freestyle, Freeski, Snowboard Summer • 10+ years

Program Details

PCSS Water Ramp Drop-Ins provide Freestyle, Freeski and Snowboard team athletes with a safe, structured environment to develop aerial skills throughout the summer and early fall. Each session begins with a trampoline warm-up before moving to 90 minutes of coached water-ramp training, where athletes practice takeoffs, body control, and trick progressions at the Spence Eccles Olympic Freestyle Pool.

Designed for ages 10+ with intermediate skiing or snowboarding skills, drop-ins are ideal for athletes who want additional training outside their main program or are unable to commit to a full-time schedule. Punch-pass options offer flexible pricing, and sessions may be booked individually based on availability. All equipment can be provided, and coaches guide athletes safely through appropriate ramp levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What skills are required to participate?

Athletes must be intermediate to advanced skiers or snowboarders who can safely manage speed, edge control, and independent equipment handling. Prior dry-slope or terrain-park experience is helpful but not required. Snowboarding is allowed, but it is more difficult on the dry-slope, and ramp terrain is generally easier to navigate on skis.
  • What should athletes bring?

Athletes should bring a swimsuit, towel, change of clothes, sunscreen, socks, and a full water bottle. Warm clothing for after the session is recommended on cooler days.
  • What equipment does PCSS provide?

PCSS provides all required water-ramp equipment, including skis, boots, helmet, wetsuit, and life jacket. Athletes are welcome to use their own gear if preferred. Snowboarders may participate, but snowboard gear is limited and availability is not guaranteed in all sizes.
  • Is trampoline training included?

In most cases, yes. The 1.5-hour water ramp sessions also include trampoline time, which is used for warm-up, air-awareness drills, and skill refinement before going to the ramps.
  • Can sessions be rescheduled or refunded?

Sessions must be canceled at least 72 hours in advance to be eligible for a makeup. Weather cancellations will be rescheduled when possible, but makeups are not guaranteed if schedules don’t align.
  • How do session reservations work?

All sessions must be reserved in advance. Space is limited and fills quickly, especially mid-summer. Athletes must book through PlayMetrics. Spots are first-come, first-served.
  • Check-In & Session Schedule: What happens at each session?

Athletes should check in 5 minutes before the session on the east end of the Legacy Lodge Deck, overlooking the pool. Coaches meet the group there and confirm waivers and equipment needs. Each drop-in session runs 2.5 hours and follows this structure:

    • 1 hour of trampoline training to warm up, practice body positions, and build air awareness
    • 1.5 hours of water ramping, where athletes progress from basic tricks to more advanced maneuvers as approved by coaches

After landing in the pool, athletes change into dry clothes, return equipment, and check out with staff before leaving.
