The FIS Assistant Coach works closely with the FIS Head Coach and FIS Elite athletes to support the planning and implementation of athlete training and development. The Assistant Coach will help execute individual and team training plans, provide consistent coaching and feedback, and foster strong, positive relationships with athletes and families. This role also collaborates regularly with the Freestyle Director, Freestyle Team Manager, and Action Sports Athletic Director to support the overall goals, operations, and development of the FIS program.

Key Responsibilities
• Support the FIS Head Coach in delivering structured training focused on technical, tactical, physical, and mental development.
• Assist with coaching during dryland training, on-snow sessions, camps, and competitions.
• Provide technical, tactical, and mindset feedback, including video review and competition start-gate preparation.
• Support athlete recruitment and retention.
• Assist with local, national, and international competitions at the UOP.
• Assist with training venue preparation, including course building and maintenance.
• Travel extensively with the FIS Elite team for pre-season camps and competitions, including the NorAm Tour.
• Assist with team travel logistics, including flights, ground transportation, and lodging.
• Support a positive team culture through athlete engagement and team-building activities.
• Adhere to and uphold PCSS and USSS policies and Codes of Conduct.
• Support the athletic and character development of all athletes.
• Promote the PCSS “One Club” philosophy and respect across all disciplines.
• Support PCSS initiatives that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion within the freestyle program.

Qualifications
• Ability to support and motivate athletes while working closely with the FIS Head Coach.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage training and competition responsibilities.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to provide clear, constructive technical and mental coaching.
• Ability to help athletes develop confidence, focus, and an effective competition mindset.
• Level 100+ USSS Coach Certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain within 3 months.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage training and competition responsibilities.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to provide clear, constructive technical and mental coaching.
• Ability to help athletes develop confidence, focus, and an effective competition mindset.
• Level 100+ USSS Coach Certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain within 3 months.
Education & Experience
• Minimum of one year of coaching experience on the FIS NorAm Tour and three or more years of overall coaching experience.
• Freestyle Level 100 Coach Certification (or higher).
• Extensive knowledge of USSS and FIS competition structures, including rules and regulations, qualification criteria, and Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) models.
• Demonstrated experience managing and leading high-level teams and programs; strong background in Freestyle Moguls preferred.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and other commonly used digital tools and platforms.
• Freestyle Level 100 Coach Certification (or higher).
• Extensive knowledge of USSS and FIS competition structures, including rules and regulations, qualification criteria, and Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) models.
• Demonstrated experience managing and leading high-level teams and programs; strong background in Freestyle Moguls preferred.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and other commonly used digital tools and platforms.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work on snow for up to 8 hours per day on expert-level terrain.
• Ability to perform course preparation and work in extreme winter conditions.
• Willingness to work up to 7 days per week during peak competition periods.
