Freeride Big Mountain
Learn to Train • 8+ years

Program Details

The Snowboard Freeride program is designed for athletes who love exploring the entire mountain while preparing for IFSA competitions. Over 16 weeks of coach-led training at Park City Mountain and Canyons, riders develop confidence on in-bounds terrain and learn how to transfer tricks from the park to natural mountain features.

Coaches focus on the five IFSA judging categories—line choice, control, technique, fluidity, and style/energy—giving athletes both structure and freedom to progress. Along the way, riders gain experience in backcountry and snow safety, with beacon, probe, and shovel required as part of the team. Open to athletes ages 8 and up, families can choose from flexible training options: 1-day, 2-day, or 2-day plus Friday afternoon at PCM.

What sets Freeride apart is the blend of freestyle creativity with big-mountain skills. Athletes don’t just train in the park—they learn to bring those tricks into natural terrain, hiking for higher lines, mastering avalanche safety, and riding with confidence in unpredictable conditions. This balance of safety, competition prep, and all-mountain adventure makes Freeride a one-of-a-kind pathway for young snowboarders.
