While we encourage a multi-sport off-snow emphasis for all athletes in the summertime, increasing an athlete's overall fitness during the off-season is also highly advantageous. Combining an increased fitness level with a small amount of on-piste skill camps can significantly enhance an athlete's skiing progression and break up the monotony of dryland through the summer. For these reasons, Park City Ski & Snowboard offers compulsory options for our FIS, U16, and 2nd Year U14 athletes. If your athlete is younger than these age groups, we can easily recommend camp options and provide dryland programming for you to do on your own.
While all our Alpine groups participate in fall dryland conditioning programs, we wanted to extend our summer conditioning programming to our 2nd-year U14 athletes so they could jump on the conditioning period. We understand and encourage our athletes at this age to get involved in many other sports and activities. However, It is also an added benefit to provide an educational period on the dryland movement patterns so that when this age group gets to the fall, they fully comprehend what will be asked of them and can take advantage of the sessions. The Summer dryland period will follow the U16 sessions each week but will be more geared towards the physical maturation of the U14 athlete.
All Athletes must be current with their '24/'25 USSS Membership to gain access to the COE.
Dryland is an essential off-season training component for high-level ski racers. While Dryland for our U16 Athletes has been an optional add-on to our winter programming, continuing with our move to an ANNUAL PROGRAM for U16s, our summer program has become a mandatory requirement similar to our FIS age group. The physiological focus will include strength, agility, and aerobic conditioning exercises. Our conditioning programs are designed to best prepare the athlete for the specific forces and demands of ski racing and reduce the relative risk of injury.
