Kickers & Gliders Coach

Timeframe: Early December - Early March

Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4:15-5:45pm 

Location: White Pine Nordic Center

Looking for candidates who love working with kids and Nordic skiing, who have experience with both. Job duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Assist in the day-to-day running of the Kickers & Gliders program including practice planning, team communication, etc.

  • Develop games and fun drills to help kids develop skills and confidence.

  • Create a positive and rewarding atmosphere for all participants.  

  • Support racers at the Wasatch Citizen Series.

Get Out & Play and Activ8 Coach

Schedule: Thursday & Friday afternoons

Location: White Pine Nordic Center

Youth Sports Alliance's Get Out & Play and Activ8 Cross Country Ski programs are a partnership between Park City Ski and Snowboard, White Pine Nordic, Park City School District schools and Weilenmann School of Discovery. Get Out and Play is for 1st-5th graders and Activ8 is for middle school. Assist in the day-to-day running of the Get Out & Play program.

  • Assist with fitting kids for rental ski equipment. 

  • Lead an intro to classic skiing that progresses for 3 lessons. 

  • Work with other coaches and volunteers to manage groups

  • Develop games and fun drills to help kids develop skills and confidence.

  • Create a positive and rewarding atmosphere for all participants.

Cross Country Head Devo Coach

Reports to: Cross Country Director

Employment Status: Part-time hourly employee, non-exempt 

Supervises: Cross Country Devo athletes, assistant coaching staff 

Position Summary

The Park City Ski & Snowboard (PCSS) Cross Country Devo Lead Coach (the “Coach”) must have an enthusiastic, positive attitude and genuinely enjoy working with youth. The job varies between 10-20 hours per week, and includes leading 4 practice sessions per week plus 2-4 hours per week for prep/meeting time. 

The Coach must support and implement long-term athlete development, as well as the PCSS mission statement and core values. This includes being part of an inclusive and safe team environment that helps junior athletes develop life skills, work ethic, resilience, leadership skills, goal setting, and sportsmanship. The Coach will provide constructive, actionable feedback to athletes both at practice and outside of practice.

Key Working Relationships

The Coach is expected to work directly with the Cross Country Director and Devo coaches and athletes, and will also facilitate a smooth transition from Kickers and Gliders to Devo and from Devo to Comp team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare and send weekly email updates to Devo families.
  • Use Playmetrics app to post practice details and communicate with parents, as needed.
  • Arrive timely with documented lesson plans for each practice session; communicate with additional coaching staff as needed.
  • Be responsible for athletes through practice until picked up by a responsible adult.
  • Host preseason parent/athlete orientation meeting; assist with rental equipment distribution.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with Cross Country Director and staff. 
  • Complete required coach development training sessions. 
  • Coordinate and lead Thanksgiving camp.
  • Coach at all local races (i.e., Wasatch Citizen Series, Super Qualifier, and Intermountain Youth Ski Championships).

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • Extensive knowledge of Nordic skiing, coaching and program planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to lead and inspire athletes and assistant coaches/volunteers.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, delegate, manage own work, make decisions, and solve problems effectively and creatively.
  • A goal-oriented, thorough, and detailed approach to work.
  • Ability to positively represent PCSS within and outside the Park City community.
  • Valid driver’s license. 
  • At least 18 years of age.  

Education and Experience

  • Experience in coaching leading high-level teams and programs.
  • Current standard first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications.
  • Current US Ski & Snowboard Level 100 coaches license and SafeSport compliant.
  • Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft 365 Suite, and other commonly used computer-based tools and resources.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in all temperature and weather extremes. 
  • Assist at practice and competition sites, including ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Must be self‐ motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. 
  • Evening and weekend work is expected. 
  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions.

Freeride (Big Mountain) Team Coach

Freeride Team Coach is a role that reports to the Freeride Head Coaches, as well as the Freeski/Freeride Division Director. Assist in the responsibilities of improving overall program success measures including, but not limited to, athlete safety, skill performance, member retention and acquisition, annual member satisfaction and financial growth. 

Employee shall, in good faith, devote his/her best efforts to his/her employment and perform diligently and in good faith such duties as are or may be from time to time required by the organization, whose duties shall be consistent with the position as set forth above.

Position Requirements:
  • Term of employment Mid November, 2024 through April 1, 2025. 
  • Acquire and Maintain CPR/ First Aid, Heads Up Concussion
  • Able to use apps and programs in Paycom, Google Drive, and team schedule.   
  • Be empowered. Take on tasks/responsibilities
  • Be a positive mentor to athletes on and off the hill
  • Compliance with SafeSport
  • Understand and agrees with the Vision and Mission statement of PCSS
  • Background screening
  • Knowledge in Google Drive, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to lead a group
  • Ability to assist and support the Head Coaches and Division Directors
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Must be able to follow the weekly curriculum
  • Expert skier who loves to ski
Athletic responsibilities:
  • If an athlete on your training Group List does not show up, call and/or text to link up.
  • If an athlete is not cleared to leave on the Athlete Log, I will stay until a parent/guardian is able to pick them up (at all venues).
  • Be in contact with Freeride head coaches, working together, to help athletes be prepared for the next level.  
  • Provides ski demonstrations during sessions when applicable
  • Provides feedback to athletes
  • Communication of athletic program to athletes and parents
  • Assist in goal setting sessions 
Other Responsibilities:
  • Support and implement PCSS policies and procedures
  • Knowledgeable in Paycom, Clocking in/out, requesting time off, etc.      
  • Able to upload video onto a hard drive at the end of shifts.
  • Other tasks as assigned

Snowboard Seasonal Hourly Coach

Nov. 16 2024-April 1, 2025

This position reports to the Snowboard Director, Associate Director of Snowboard Development, and Head Coach; the applicant  works in a multitude of tasks to ensure the success of the Park City Ski and Snowboard program. This is a time commitment of 1-5 days per week on-snow as well as basic administrative responsibilities. Group management and skill progressions for the group make up a bulk of the on-snow time. This position is overtime exempt.

Position Requirements
  • Understand and agrees with the Vision and Mission statement of PCSS
  • Compliance with Safe Sport, Background, and Physical screening
  • USSA Level 1 coach or the equivalent 
  • Attend all assigned training sessions on time and with a plan
  • Comply with Uniform guidelines
  • Leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to assist and support Snowboard Director, Associate Director, and Head Coach 
  • Positive and Enthusiastic attitude
  • Expert snowboarder who loves to snowboard
Athletic responsibilities
  • Assist the Snowboard Head Coach on hill within scope of basic duties
  • Lead riders on-hill day-to-day
  • Participate in staff training
  • Manage a group of riders with focused goals in a safe environment 
  • Goal Setting and Goal review with athletes
  • Provides snowboard demonstrations as needed and within safe ability during sessions
  • Provides feedback to athletes
  • Communication of individual athletic program to athletes and parents
  • Video and Video review with athletes
Other Responsibilities
  • Support and implement PCSS policies and procedures
  • Attend all staff meetings at the request of PCSS ED/PD
  • Support fundraising events
  • Support host events
  • Continue education in all domains of discipline specific focus (Freestyle/SBX/Alpine)
