A FUN & FAST MOVING FALL

A MESSAGE FROM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, CHRISTIE HIND

Dear PCSS Families:

It is both an honor and a privilege to assume the position of permanent executive director at PCSS. This role allows me to work alongside our coaches and athletes every day, to champion our programs and venues, and to cultivate and promote the very best culture at PCSS. As the reach of PCSS and its mission expands throughout our community, our team continues to find new ways to support and advance best practices in youth sports. At the same time, we are laser-focused on embracing the essential truth of "sport for life": Above all else, PCSS programs should be fun for our athletes. Building friendships, fostering supportive teams, and encouraging the joy of skiing and snowboarding are at the center of everything we do -- both on and off the hill.

A busy summer has turned into a fast-moving fall! We recently wrapped up a spectacular summer of training including: strength and conditioning sessions, devo camps at the UOP, on-snow travel camps, water ramping, trampolining, air bag sessions and more. We also hosted several community events like Red Bull 100/400, Springer Tournee, the 4th of July Fun Run, and the PCSS Golf Tournament. Now that the leaves are turning and winter weather has crept in, we look ahead to equipment nights, team meetings, fall fundraisers, family gatherings, and preseason camps as PCSS prepares for an outstanding 2019-20 season.

Thank you for being part of the PCSS community and supporting your athletes and coaches. I am delighted to present the fall newsletter and hope you will find a way to join us as we kick off another great season!

Mogul Team Update

PCSS is excited to announce the newest addition to our family, Jeff Yingling - Mogul Program Director. Jeff has a life time of experience in mogul skiing and more than 17 years of experience as a Freestyle Program Director. Jeff most recently was the Freestyle, Freeski and MTB Program Director at the Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club. Before that, he was the Freestyle Ski Director at Gould Academy, in Bethel Maine. He is a former member of the United States Freestyle Development Team, two-time Jr. World Championship Coach and has coached multiple athletes who have gone on to the U.S. Ski Team, World Cup and Olympic Games. In addition, Jeff is a U.S. Ski & Snowboard level 300 Aerial coach and also holds certification with American Sports Education Program (ASEP).

To add to the growing moguls program, we have welcomed Troy Murphy, U.S. Team Alum and 2018 Olympian, as our Head Mogul Coach to work alongside Jeff to make this moguls program the best in the world!

The Freestyle FIS Mogul Team is preparing for an 18-day on-snow training camp and competition in Idre Fjall, Sweden. The team’s “4th quarter push” on water ramp training has been productive. Yingling says Troy Murphy has had a phenomenal impact in his early months with the team, collecting athlete’s skill data and specifically targeting and tracking their progress. Yingling expressed his excitement: “we have an amazing team of athletes and coaches, along with world class training facilities here in Park City. We’re excited for a great season!"
